Joe Saunders is a freelance historian offering research services to private clients, professional researchers, academics, and organisations. His expertise includes family history, local history, house history research, brickwall problem-solving, transcription, writing up research, and archival research. He also provides historical consultancy services. He visits archives across Britain including county record offices, university special collections, libraries, and national institutions, and is listed on The National Archives' list of Independent Researchers. He also conducts online research. Additionally, he is a doctoral candidate at the University of York, a tutor for Pharos Tutors, gives talks to history organisations, serves as a Trustee of the British Association for Local History, and sits on the editorial board of The Historian magazine.
