The Nordic Genealogist

Shanna Lund's genealogy journey began with an elementary school family tree project using a 1972 family book compiled by a family genealogist. After moving from Minnesota to Los Angeles for college in 2006, she reconnected with her Nordic heritage and began formal genealogical research in 2018. Using historical records and assistance from Norwegian friends, she located her ancestral Sletten farm in Norway and met living relatives. In 2019, she and her husband traveled to Norway, met family in person, and located her 3rd great-grandparents' gravestone still standing after 118 years. This transformative experience inspired her to transition from hobby genealogy to professional practice. She specializes in Nordic countries (particularly Norway and Sweden) and Midwestern U.S. states, helping clients build accurate family trees, navigate language barriers and old handwriting, and plan heritage travel experiences.
